TOXIC FOODS TO AVOID
I’ll be sharing about ingredients... ingredients we should avoid. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . Now here’s the thing, we can LEARN what to avoid, but UNLESS applied, knowledge is useless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you want to be successful in anything, (today we’re talking about ingredients), you must apply (put it into practice) what you learned. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Palm oil =
When a regular fat like corn, soybean, or palm oil is blasted with hydrogen and turned into a solid, it becomes a trans fat.
These anti-nutrients keep packaged foods stay "fresh," this means the food can sit on the grocery store shelf for years without getting stale or moldy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Eating junk food with trans fats will raise your "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides and it lowers your "good" HDL. These fats increase your risk for blood clots and heart attack. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Avoid palm oil and other trans fats, and avoid fried foods too, they're most likely fried in one of these freakish trans-fatty oils.
2. Shortening =
Get rid of food that lists shortening or partially hydrogenated oil as an ingredient. These are trans fats. Clogging arteries and causing obesity, shortening also increased our risk of metabolic syndrome.
Instead pick healthier monounsaturated fats, like olive oil, peanut and anchovies, flax seed, chia seeds, walnuts, foods that contain unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids instead..
3. High Fructose Corn Syrup=
Even though the amount of refined sugar we eat has gone down the past 40 years, we're still having close to 20’s as much HFCS.
Researchers at Tufts University, say Americans ingest more calories from HFCS other sources. It’s one of the main ingredients and most foods-from tomato sauces, to applesauce. It raises triglycerides, boosts our fat-storing hormones, and triggers us to overeat and ultimately gain weight. Steer clear of this ingredient!
Be on the lookout on your food labels for these ingredients. It really is amazing when you start to eliminate these, how you’ll feel more energized, have better mental clarity, start to lose belly fat, and cravings will begin to dissipate. 4. Artificial Sweeteners =
The following is harder on our metabolic system then regular white table sugar. Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal), saccharin (Sweet'N Low, SugarTwin), and sucralose (Splenda) may be even harder on our metabolic systems than plain old sugar. Apparently these diet sweeteners are doing more damage than good! Studies say that these artificial sweeteners play tricks the brain. Forgetting that sweetness means extra calories, so more times than none, people are more prone to keep eating sweet treats. Search ingredient labels!
5. Sodium Benzoate & Potassium Benzoate=
These preservatives - added to soda to prevent mold from growing.
Get this, benzene is a carcinogen that's linked with serious thyroid damage. Dangerous levels of benzene build up as plastic bottles of soda are exposed to heat or when the preservatives are combined with ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Scary stuff! . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 6. Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) =
BHA a potentially cancer-causing preservative. It helps prevent spoilage, it's an endocrine disruptor and can seriously put your hormones in a jam.
BHA is in HUNDREDS of foods. Found in food packaging and cosmetics. DITCH processed foods altogether. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
7. Sodium Nitrates and Sodium Nitrites =
Two different preservatives that are found in processed meats like bacon, lunch meat, and hot dogs. These are some of the worst offenders, they're believed to cause colon cancer and metabolic syndrome. This can lead to diabetes. Protect your health by choosing fresh, organic meats. 8. MSG Monosodium Glutamate =
A common ingredient and food additive which is used to enhance the flavor of processed, canned and frozen foods. MSG seasoning is derived from glutamic acid that is abundant in many types of food.
