What??? Eat Thanksgiving Without Packing On The Pounds?

Once again, it's that time of the year, yes, Thanksgiving. The time when we here in America, we celebrate the founding fathers settling here.

This is a day that people tend to overeat and stuff themselves silly.

Really, it's not silly at all.

I've got some practical and simple steps that will help you NOT to feel bloated and uncomfortable during your Thanksgiving Day, and will help you to avoid packing on the pounds too.

HELPFUL TIP #1

===> Eat during the day. Ideas of what to eat

• Keep your portion sizes modest, and eat when you're hungry. Stop before you start to feel uncomfortable.

• Continue to eat your meals throughout the day. Don't skip hoping to "save up" for Thanksgiving dinner. This sets you up for eating too much-which will do more damage than good.

• Try to eat something healthy every 3 to 4 hours

-enjoy 1/2 - 3/4 Cup of oatmeal and scrambled eggs

-have an egg white omelet with healthy fat-a simple 2 to 3 hard-boiled eggs, along with raw nuts or some fresh fruit

-For lunch, have a salad with protein. Tuna or chicken

-Have some leftover ground beef stirred in with mixed vegetables as a stir-fry for lunch? This doesn't have to be hard. Cook up a pound of ground beef and add a frozen bag of vegetables with minced garlic and soy sauce.

The main thing is to eat protein and lots of veggies. Get your fill on nutritional food so that you'll have a steady source of energy before eating your Thanksgiving meal. art by standing in the end with your feet a little wider than shoulder-width apart.

HELPFUL TIP #2

===> what to wear

• This is a fun one, pick something to wear that's fitted. You'll be more likely to eat until content instead of picking out and hiding behind a loose top or Boxy dress.

HELPFUL TIP#3

===> serving size

• When it's time to dish up that scrumptious food, put 1/4 protein, 1/4 salad and 1/4 of the plainest vegetables. Then with the last 1/4 of your plate, use it for the fun stuff. You know, like the sweet potato casserole, or green bean casserole

HELPFUL TIP #4

===> alcohol

• Plan to stick to two drinks. When drinking more alcohol, our inhibitions lower which increases the likeliness of eating more than we normally would. So keep the drinks to a maximum of two.

• While you're at it, choose beverages such as red wine, for the antioxidants, or clear liquor for lower calorie and fat content.

• Don't forget this for every cocktail or glass of wine: have a glass of water to neutralize the alcohol. In fact, have two glasses of water to keep you hydrated for every drink of alcohol. This, by far, will help you to feel great and not inflamed the next day.

HELPFUL TIP #5

===>leftovers

• Please, don't gorge on those leftovers. Share them! If you're the host, purchase a set of plastic food containers to send extra food home with guests. Want to save money? Then use Ziploc bags!

• What about those Scrumptious pies? We can save pies in the freezer.

-Pecan and pumpkin do well frozen, although they will lose their texture a little, and the crust may also get a tad soggy. Just wrap in tinfoil, plastic wrap, or put into a freezer bag. Freeze for up to two months.

- Fruit pies freeze exceptionally well. Again, cover the pie with tinfoil, plastic wrap, or in a freezer bag and freeze for up to four months.

-Don't forget to write with a sharpie the date on the outside visually. I would put two dates on this. When you froze the pie, and when you should eat the pie. For example

Frozen: 11/23/17

Eat by: 1/23/18.

- When you're ready to serve again, thaw for one hour at room temperature. Reheat at 325° for about 30 minutes. Keep your eyes on it.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your Thanksgiving this year!
